My students need an iPad Pro to bring art to life through technology, Wikki Sticks, Modeling Foam, Zoob Building Sets, Geosticks and a Light Table with Light Pegs.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A day in my classroom consists of students having the bare minimum to learn. I want my students to have a love of learning by Empowering My Students Through the Arts. My biggest challenge is not having any resources available to get into their hands. I believe the arts can lead them to success!
My students come from broken homes, many of whom are in shelters.
The majority of them are special needs students who have never held anything other than a pencil in their hand. My school is high poverty with students who, unfortunately, do not have any home support. My students light up when I bring anything to do with art into the classroom, but it has been greatly difficult to financially provide for them in the arts, as well as their basic needs. I would believe empowering students through the arts shines a whole new light into learning. I believe it makes students feel cared about when you share an art experience with them and when they get to share that art piece with others their confidence builds to exponential levels. I firmly believe that when a child feels cared about and confident, that there is no telling what they can achieve.
My Project
Having these art supplies and technology in our classroom will ignite a life long love of learning in these children. They will be able to learn science, social studies, literacy, math and countless other things all through these art supplies. I have students who do not speak, as well as extremely delayed. Having an Ipad that students can create a real piece of art on will give them a whole new outlook on learning. Through these different and unique art materials, my students will learn in a whole new way. They will look forward to coming to school and know that I am there and truly care about the path they embark on throughout their educational career.
Donations to this project will bring my classroom to life.
It will bring an opportunity to learn in a fun, new way into the hands of children who would otherwise never have the chance to learn in this capacity. I feel it will greatly change my student's lives for the better by sparking a hunger for learning within them. My students are at the early stage of their learning careers and it only takes the heart of one person to show them all that they can be.
