Empowering Students: Garden Beds & Artisan Crafts For Entrepreneurship
Help me give my students the tools to cultivate a thriving outdoor garden with raised beds, and craft supplies for soap making and resin crafts, fostering creativity and entrepreneurship.
The proposed project aims to enrich STEM and science education by providing rural students with hands-on learning experiences through gardening and artisanal craft-making. By requesting outdoor garden supplies such as raised beds and a water system along with soap making and resin craft materials, students will engage in interdisciplinary learning that fosters creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Students look forward to planning and running a Farmers Market and these supplies will help them reach this goal!
In STEM and science classes, these resources will serve as valuable tools for exploring various scientific concepts such as plant growth, ecosystems, and chemical reactions all while allowing students to plan a Farmers Market.
Students will actively participate in planting, observing, and caring for the garden, gaining practical knowledge about botany, agriculture, and environmental science. Our current plants are quickly outgrowing our small indoor greenhouse and students are looking forward to transplanting many of these outdoors!
The project's goals extend beyond traditional classroom learning. By integrating gardening and crafts, students will develop a deeper appreciation for nature and sustainable living practices. They will learn to collaborate, communicate, and take initiative as they work together to maintain the garden and create artisanal products for a farmers market. Students are excited to make soap and add in what they have grown such as herbs and flower petals.
What sets rural students apart is their eagerness to explore new avenues of learning. They thrive in environments where they can express themselves creatively and immerse themselves in hands-on activities. Gardening provides them with a sense of ownership and pride as they witness the fruits of their labor, while crafting allows them to experiment with new techniques and materials. By embracing their love for creativity, experimentation, and gardening, this project empowers rural students to become creators of their own futures.
