Empowering Special Education Through Montessori Manipulatives

My Project

In the field of special education, each student's journey is unique, requiring individualized tools and techniques to foster growth. Montessori manipulatives offer an opportunity to bridge developmental gaps through hands-on learning that meets students where they are.

Our special education students experience challenges such as difficulty focusing, delayed motor skills, and sensory processing issues.

Traditional learning tools often fail to engage these students or cater to their developmental pace. Montessori manipulatives promote active, self-paced learning by engaging multiple senses and offering hands-on experiences that help students with special needs to grasp concepts in a concrete manner. Materials like wooden reading rods, magnetic alphabet and number mazes, alphabet/number keys and dressing boards will help our students with motor planning, tactile learning and building foundational skills in literacy and numeracy.

We aim to see measurable improvements in students' ability to complete tasks independently, improved engagement in lessons, and greater fine motor coordination.
