My Students

I teach wonderful self-contained special education students in a middle school setting. Our population is 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Some of my students are able to go out to some regular education classes, but many of my students stay with me for all their academic classes and learn with specialized, one on one, direct instruction.

The students in my class all strive to learn various reading strategies to empower their learning.

All of my students want to learn, but need topics taught to them in different ways sometimes. My students all have reading goals and are all at different places in their reading journey. My students are motivated to learn and love when they have new books and materials to help them read on their level.

My Project

These CD players will help improve and enhance ELA and Reading time in my classroom. Our classroom was given a huge donation of books and CDs to go with the books. By having portable CD players in the classroom, students can work in small groups or partners and can listen to classroom books (both fiction and non-fiction) and can work on their reading strategies through books that they are reading while listening to them being read to them.

These CD players will enable my students to listen to books they might not have picked up before.

My students will no longer have to be discouraged if the reading level is above their level. The more books that I can expose my students too, the greater their love of reading will become, and their knowledge will continue to grow and expand.
