This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
You know the heart of my teaching philosophy? It’s really all about marveling at how endlessly curious and tough my students are. Every day, they walk into class, all fired up to dive into something new. It turns our gym into this electric place where growth and learning never hit the pause button. So, this project we’ve got going?
It’s pretty cool—it wraps up physical fitness, eating right, getting smart about our feelings, and even tech, all into one big adventure.
We’re on a mission to look after the whole person.
Throwing weights and yoga into the mix isn’t just about getting stronger. It’s a lesson in sticking with it and chasing personal goals. And when we get into cooking, it’s like this wild, tasty journey. Using cookbooks and kitchen gadgets, we explore what healthy eating’s all about. Picture this: a simple blender turns a chat about vitamins into this hands-on, super fun experiment that really gets them thinking about what’s on their plate.
And those fitness watches? They’re our ticket to making P.E. super modern. The kids get to see their activity levels right there on their wrists, learning firsthand why moving more matters, all through their own data. Plus, with stuff like conversation cards and lessons on handling emotions, we’re also building stronger connections and teaching them how to be understanding with others.
What’s really awesome about my students is how different they all are. They bring their own stories and ideas into our gym, making every project, including this one, about so much more than just getting fit or learning facts. It’s about prepping them for a future where they’re in charge—making good choices for their health, connecting with people in real, meaningful ways, and knowing how to use all this tech for the better.
