We have recently started a few club sports to provide a variety to choices to our students. One important elective that has been added is our Bootcamp Buddies program. This is just one of the electives from which our 4-8th grade students can pick to attend weekly. We need various hand weights, sandbags, and other equipment to help set up exercise stations throughout Boot Camp. To get the experience of going to a "real" gym our students need actual equipment! In Boot Camp we talk about being focused on our health and creating realistic goals to accomplish at the end of the quarter or year. Leading a healthy lifestyle is hard as an adult, but our students are choosing to make this an achievable goal. I create workouts that are based on exercises that they may encounter in fitness classes, or boot camps later in life, using hand weights for arm exercises, and cones with wand posts to create obstacles for sprints. My hope is to create a life long mindset in our students to exercise frequently, eat healthy, and make smart choices.
