My Project

Students are much more likely to read a book - if they choose it themselves! That is why we strive to teach our Dolphins to be independent library users. The Media Center can seem overwhelming, especially for our youngest students, and trying to find a book by the call number on the book spine alone can be difficult, especially for students who are new to reading or are English language learners.

Book browsing bins can make finding the perfect book easier for elementary students!

The impact of such a simple yet profound addition to our library cannot be overstated. Research has consistently shown that easy access to a diverse range of books correlates positively with improved reading habits and academic performance among students. By integrating browsing bins into our library environment, we hope to instill a sense of empowerment in our students, encouraging them to take an active role in shaping their reading experiences. Furthermore, this project aligns with our broader goals of promoting literacy and fostering a culture of lifelong learning.

All new elementary schools in our public school system use these bins in their Media Centers. This product has proven to hold up with heavy use over time. Mrs. Fiedler has had a few of these bins for seven years and they are still as good as new!

What truly sets our students apart is their boundless curiosity and enthusiasm for learning. They possess an innate sense of wonder and an insatiable thirst for knowledge that propels them forward on their educational journey. By filling these book bins with an assortment of high-interest texts from our collection, that journey is more accessible for our students.
