Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help provide my special education students with profound autism and intellectual disabilities with a flexible seating arrangement. The items needed will allow them to regulate their sensory needs while still being able to follow along in small and whole-group instruction. More than half of my students have moderate to profound autism and find rocking in their chairs especially soothing. These specific seat options would give students a chance to regulate their nervous system in a safer way rather than rocking in a traditional chair and potentially getting hurt.
As a first-year teacher, it has been difficult to find affordable seating alternatives for our students who have trouble sitting in traditional metal chairs for long periods of time.
With your help, our students will be able to move around in their designated space, while also learning with the rest of the class!
