This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their resilience and eagerness to learn, despite facing various challenges such as trauma, poverty, being on the autism spectrum, and navigating English Language Learning. Each day, they bring their unique perspectives and strengths into our classroom, enriching our learning community.

The resources I'm requesting, specifically the weighted stuffed animals, are designed to provide crucial support for my students' social-emotional development and self-regulation skills.

Many of my students struggle with managing their emotions and focusing on tasks due to the adversities they face outside of school. These weighted animals will serve as comforting companions, offering sensory input that helps them feel grounded and calm. By incorporating these tools into our classroom environment, I aim to create a space where every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

My goals for this project are twofold: first, to enhance my students' social-emotional well-being by providing them with resources that promote self-regulation and emotional expression. Second, to create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students, regardless of their backgrounds or challenges, can thrive academically and personally.

What makes my students truly special is their incredible resilience and determination. Despite facing significant obstacles, they come to school each day with a hunger for knowledge and a willingness to overcome whatever challenges may come their way. Their unique experiences and perspectives enrich our classroom community and remind me daily of the importance of creating an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
