Empowering Eager English Learners to Effectively Spin a Yarn

Help me give my students 36 headphones with microphones and 5 books to learn to communicate in English; listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

My Students

My students are special because they are multilingual and have first-hand knowledge about other countries. The students are very supportive of each other, accepting everyone no matter what their language challenges may be.

The students are eager to engage in activities that build their language skills.

They desire to increase their vocabulary and become fluent in English. They feel successful when they can communicate effectively by listening, reading, writing, and speaking. They recognize their lives will be enhanced as their second language communication skills improve.

My Project

The books will be read to get some ideas for the story they are going to write. The books also touch on social-emotional subjects that students may be able to relate to. There are a variety of genres for the students to explore.

Students will be empowered to share their stories with each other using headphones with microphones.

They will record themselves on Canvas, classmates will listen to the stories, then they will take a survey that the storyteller created on Kahoot!

Students will be able to see and hear each other's stories, even if they need to work at home. This will allow the students to feel an emotional connection. They will be able to get to know each other's personalities while practicing their English skills.
