Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

In my fiber arts classroom, these materials will serve as the building blocks for creative exploration and skill development. With painting supplies at our disposal, students finally have the opportunity to dive into the fundamentals of color theory, experimenting with different hues and tones on various textile surfaces. The versatility of oil pastels enriches our projects by allowing students to add depth, texture, and vibrant details to their artwork. I teach high school, where my students can often feel incredibly trivialized by only having access to crayons and colored pencils for all of their artistic endeavors. Furthermore, a screen printing station opens up new avenues for exploration as students learn the intricacies of textile design, from creating intricate patterns to transferring their designs onto fabric. By incorporating these materials into our curriculum, I provide students with hands-on experiences that not only enhance their artistic abilities but also deepen their understanding of the fiber arts field.

Securing a donation is the cornerstone of unlocking boundless creativity in my fiber arts classroom, ensuring every student has the brush, pastel, and screen they need to flourish.

Many students come from diverse backgrounds where financial constraints may limit their ability to purchase art supplies. By receiving donations, I can level the playing field and ensure that all students, regardless of their economic circumstances, have the chance to participate fully in our fiber arts program. This not only promotes inclusivity but also fosters a supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to explore their creative potential.
