We are a public Montessori preschool through 6th grade comprised of a diverse student population from a wide array of Kansas City Missouri neighborhoods. My classroom has 24 students ranging in ages three to six years old.
These young students are fiercely independent and excited about learning.
Each day they come in with a thirst for knowledge and the chance to express themselves in their school community. Our students are particularly interested in art, science, and geography. They are always looking to learn more and more!
My Project
I have a class full of eager and excited preschool/kindergarten age students. Each student has different strengths in my classroom. I have five-year-olds who are beginning to read and six-year-olds who still need supports to read short three letter words.
Phonics instruction gives my students the tools they need to be confident and successful readers.
These materials will allow me to instruct them in a creative way. We have phonics materials that we are currently using, but some are outdated and many do not meet the needs of my students. They are a curious and active bunch, they like to explore while they learn. The cubes and spinners will allow them to expand their phonemic skills!
