My Students

My students are from a small, rural community. They are bright, energetic, and eager to learn. Our staff cares deeply about students and families, and there is a family atmosphere in our building.

About half of our families are on the free or reduced meal plan, and because of the recent economic downtown, we expect that number to be higher this year.

My Project

Our library has built a strong STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) program with hands-on kits and materials that are used by all students PreK-6th grade. The library's iPad 2s are so outdated, most of the STEAM apps no longer run. We need an up-to-date iPad that will allow our students to use our robotics kits (Sphero, Cubelets, Ozobots), augmented reality app (Quiver), virtual reality (Merge Cube), and stop-motion animation app.

Students light up when they get to use STEAM materials.

They are learning problem-solving and teamwork skills in a hands-on environment. Kids are highly motivated to work hard and collaborate, and every student participates and belongs in the STEAM program.
