As the school librarian, I have the privilege of getting to know every student in our building. Normally, every student comes to the library for book checkout, storytime, STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) time, and other learning activities. Because of health and safety concerns, I will be visiting classrooms for storytime this year. Students will be spending most of their time in their classroom (or outside) rather than visiting other areas of the school in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. A flannel board will greatly enhance my young students' literacy skills by helping them visualize the story and giving them a chance to help retell events and participate in the storytelling process.
