My Project

Hi! I'm Cristine Lazarte, a special education teacher in one of the reservations in Arizona. As a resource teacher, I find that binder organization can be particularly beneficial for my students with learning disabilities.

First, binders allow my students to see all their materials at once, making it easier to locate and access what they need.

This visual organization helps students with learning disabilities or attention disorders stay focused and on task.

Second, my students can customize their binders with dividers, color-coded tabs, and labels to suit their unique organizational needs. This personalization helps them develop organizational skills tailored to their learning styles.

Additionally, using a binder system encourages consistency in tracking assignments, notes, and other materials, which is especially helpful for students struggling with memory or executive functioning skills. Teaching students how to use a binder effectively promotes independence in managing their academic responsibilities, an essential skill for transitioning to higher education or the workforce. A well-organized binder can also assist students in managing their time more effectively by providing a clear overview of upcoming assignments, deadlines, and priorities.

Lastly, knowing where to find materials and how to keep them organized can reduce anxiety and stress associated with schoolwork for students with special needs, offering a sense of control and predictability.
