This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students with special needs get specially designed instruction in a pull-out learning support classroom, and they LOVE to engage in science, engineering, and STEAM activities. Science & Math instruction is crucial to their futures, present abilities, and life skills. They are working diligently and with passion on their math work and often earn incentives to get free time with math games and positive breaks - I have been offering time with LEGOs several times a month to give students fun time that's still building STEM thinking. This ties my behavioral class strategies together with practical instruction as earned breaks reinforce math, engineering, science, and fun (all in one time!).

My students in special education need hands-on, tactile supplies to learn and show engagement in math and science; these tools and this book will help students think in more in-depth ways about STEM!

The science and engineering LEGO supplies will help with science and mathematical thinking, and the LEGO bricks will help students with special needs better understand and interact with science—and engineering-focused learning.

These specific addition games in Jenga style and LEGO (for earned incentive break time and free play) empower student learning. Your generosity to our classroom that serves students with disabilities will go so far in our math and science instruction and in our positive behavior management.
