Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a public school in a large urban city. We serve a diverse student population in terms of ethnicity, geography, and social economics.
Our students do come from all walks of life and they are all striving to get a quality education that will help them succeed in their future.
Most students are neighborhood students, while a quarter of the students are in the magnet program where they chose to attend our school even if it means taking the school bus for 2 hours a day.
My Project
Our students are studying about the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal #3 Good Health and Well-Being. As part of their studies, they are researching ways to improve their physical and mental health.
As an extension of their research, they will also promote Good Health and Well-Being to others.
Our students would like to hold yoga sessions at lunch on the front lawn, not only to promote physical and mental well-being to individuals but also as a unifying activity among the students in the whole school. They believe that yoga is a universal tool in which to improve school culture in a peaceful, mindful way.
