My Students

I teach 2nd grade students. Covid has delayed their learning through time outside of the classroom, and the use of mask in school. Masks have made it difficult for students to understand each other, and my voice as I am teaching. This hindrance to their communication has the consequence of slowing down their learning and increasing their frustration as they try to learn.

Our school is a Title I charter school in Kearns, Utah.

My students come from diverse families. Many students in our school are English Language Learners, meaning English is not their primary language. Many students are economically disadvantaged. Regardless of any challenges that stand in their way our students believe in perseverance, service, and excellence.

My Project

My students will benefit from an updated library that covers social issues as well as academic standards. They will engage in games with the eggtastic game system, speech and phonics skills will improve by using personal mirrors to watch how their mouths make speech sounds, and they will learn about communities and culture through literature. The holiday and community book sets through Scholastic will help students gain this valuable knowledge of people around them. Science standards will be supported through the solar system book set.
