Embracing Flexibility: Rethinking Seating for Engaged Learning
Help me give my students the option of flexible seating. In a traditional classroom, students often get bored with sitting at standard desks. Having wobbly chairs, cushioned floor rocking chairs, and desks with standing options will promote learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Teaching high school seniors can be challenging. Thinking outside the box is always needed to help them be successful. Flexible seating allows students to move around and not be rigid while learning, which was frowned upon when I was in school.
Students learn the best when they are comfortable.
My goal for this project is to have non-traditional seating to promote traditional learning. This project is important because the students I teach are full of life and well-deserving but struggle to focus and stay on task. Flexible seating is a step in the right direction to promote learning.
