Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our vision is to ensure all children will have access to a high quality education and complete school with the technical and academic skills necessary to be college and career ready. Our teachers provide environments that inspire innovative learning, support academics, think creatively, and utilize teamwork.
The typical student in our school reads 2 or more years behind grade level.
This gap increases each year. All students are eligible to receive free lunch. Many come from homes where English is not spoken and finances don't provide for technology.
My Project
Technology can no longer be viewed as a learning enhancer; it must be viewed as a foundational piece of living in the 21st century (by: Justin Tarte)
Technology is virtually non-existent compared to our neighboring suburban schools.
With increased technology - our students will be more engaged in their learning, instruction can be differentiated as per data driven assessments and small groups of technology-based instruction can take place.
Six chromebooks will be a start in bringing technology into our schools. Students will be enabled to utilize computer based programs (Lexia, Waterford, free educational websites...), practice their keyboard skills and enable teachers to easily utilize data driven assessments. This resources will encourage students to be engaged, motivated, ready to learn and tech savvy learners.
Giving low performing, inner city students access to new technology is an investment in their future.
