My students are resilient, compassionate, and inquisitive. I work with English Learners from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and English language abilities. We have ELs ranging from newcomers with very minimal English skills to Advanced English Learners who just need some additional support to participate in rigorous academic activities. The positive relationships that are built and nurtured in our EL classroom are truly treasured, and I consider myself lucky to be able to work with such an amazing group of students!
I walk into my classroom every single day excited to bring out each of my student's amazing potential.
The English Learners in our elementary school come to us not with just an incredible eagerness to learn, but brilliant strengths and experiences that are just waiting to be utilized in our classrooms. Every one of our students are assets!
My Project
Learning English isn't just about talking about words, reading texts, or writing with a pencil on paper- watching videos, listening to music, and playing games are a valuable part of understanding new vocabulary as well!
Access to these websites for my English Learners will engage them in learning and using academic English in ways that are fun and proven to be effective.
The combination of Flocabulary with BrainPop Jr. will my provide my students with a multisensory learning environment in which they are able to practice their English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.
There are many ways I can implement these websites into my classroom. I can use the movies and videos to introduce a new topic with selected vocabulary or to clarify/elaborate on something we have already learned. Students can also access these websites independently or with classmates to practice using vocabulary in multiple contexts. The tools they offer can be used in nearly endless ways!
