This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
All 280 students in my school from 3K through 5th-grade students can't go to school but stay home for distance learning. Each student's family receives either one laptop or iPad. We use different online resources, such as Google Classroom and Google Meet, to teach the students. Some students who live in shelters have a hard time with distance learning because they don't have enough space for learning. Some students have brothers or sisters who live in the home, and they need to share the laptop or iPad with their brothers or sisters. Although the students are facing economic disadvantages, they work very hard to complete their online reading and math assignments. I am so proud to be one of their teachers.
My Project
About 280 students in my elementary school lose their school-learning opportunities because of the COVID-19 closure. I have given out 23 headphones to elementary school students in May, and some parents email me that their children still lack headphones. Many students live with their brothers and sisters in shelters, and their parents can't go to work. They don't have money to purchase headphones for their children. The students are suffering from economic disadvantages. At the same time, they are suffering from the emotional challenge from the COVID-19. They are stressed, scared, and frustrated. They need headphones so that they can listen to online books on myon.com, watch educational videos on getepic.com, and complete math and reading lessons on iReady.com without distractions. Please help my students to stay positive and keep learning in this tough time. Thank you.
