Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our special education students at our school have a wide range of special needs. Not only do they learn differently from the general population, they also have many sensory needs and other challenges that they face.

These differences are what make them so unique and they amaze us everyday!

These needs have to met during all parts of the day, not just during instruction time! We are constantly working on meeting goals! These students work hard and are so excited about learning new things.

My Project

Our Special Education department is excited to be putting together a sensory room to be used by students with sensory loss. This room will also be used by therapists and other staff members who work with students with special needs. This room will be set up with specialty lighting, seating, swings, light tables, musical items, therapy mats, etc. These items come a higher costs than other things specified for regular education classes.

By adding items into our new sensory room, we will be able to reach students in a new, innovative way that we never have before!

We have a wonderful team of teachers in the special education program, but we are in need of the tools and equipment to help our students reach their fullest potential.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
