As an elementary school counselor, I am committed to lifelong learning. I learn more from my students each day and strive to connect with them through creative approaches to social-emotional learning.
When my students enter my counseling office, they tell me how happy and calm they feel in my space.
A sense of calmness, belonging, and acceptance is at the forefront of my approach to elementary school counseling.
In these past three years, everything that I’ve brought to my office in my lessons, to my groups, or in crisis response, was self-funded. On average, I spend $100 or more per month on my students through purchasing materials for groups and lessons, filling my prize bin for lesson engagement and birthday rewards, and bringing in activities that help my students feel connected to social emotional learning topics.
My wish list includes books from my favorite SEL author, Julia Cook, art therapy supplies, supplies for making groups and classroom lessons run smoothly, some calming items, and organizational items to balance the multiple groups lead each week. I am beyond grateful for any support you can give!
