Elementary Art Program

My students need drawing and painting supplies, such as pastels and water color paint trays.

My Students

As an elementary art teacher, I meet students every year who have not ever picked up a paint brush. I want to spark the creativity in every one of my students, just as it was sparked in myself many years ago.

I work with the students of a K-5 elementary school in North Carolina.

Our school is "Title One", meaning a majority of our students live in poverty. Many of the students that I teach cannot afford the luxury of having markers or a paint set at home. However, I am amazed every day by the spirits of all my students and the creativity that they possess. I want them to have the same experiences in art that every child deserves.

My Project

With theses supplies, the students at my school will be able to complete several different projects that involve painting and drawing. I will teach my students of all grade levels the techniques of painting by using the water colors and tempera paints. With the drawing supplies my students will have the opportunity to learn both basic and advanced skills of blending using oil pastel and illustration with markers. Our many projects will include landscape and still life painting, self portrait and book illustration.

Many of my students come from homes that cannot afford the opportunities that children need to grow their passion for the arts.

You will be helping to provide these opportunities to my students and I will be able to cultivate the creativity that I know all of my students have the right to possess.
