My students need experiment sets for the opportunity to experiment with hands-on electricity experiments in order to prepare them for the science component on the C.S.T. given in grade five.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember taking a test and not having a clue as to what they were asking you about? That is the frustration our students feel when given the C.S.T. Science component taken in the fifth grade. This would give our students an opportunity to feel successful when given this test.
Ninety-five percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.
They are not talking about science at the kitchen table. However, they will be with the opportunity they will get coming to a Science Carnival run by kids and for kids. They will experience ten hands-on science investigations exploring the concepts of electricity.
My Project
These resources will allow our students to be prepared for the C.S.T. It will empower our fifth graders once they have successfully run a Science Carnival for the entire school. The employees must fill out an application, go through an interview process. They must dedicate at least one hour of their own time to be properly trained. For six days the selected students must get to school by 7:00 A.M. to set up their tables. The students who attend the carnival will investigate atoms, protons, neutrons, electrons, atoms joining atoms, copper atoms, parallel circuits, series circuits, close circuits, insulators, and conductors.
This project will impact six hundred and twenty children.
Research proves that exposure to science terminology increases a child's vocabulary by over one thousand words a year with just twenty minutes a day. These children will have two and a half hours of exposure to rich science vocabulary. Third through fifth graders will have folders in which they have to write about each investigation.
