Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a school where students are eager to learn and succeed in math. My students are all 8th graders, the senior class on our campus. Soon they will choose the high school to move on to that will prepare them for college and a career. Some have mentioned they want to become lawyers, doctors, play sports professionally, work in entertainment, study biology and architecture. My students are creative, and they love music, drawing and writing. They are problem solvers, inventors and have profound questions about the world around us. They are learning how math connects with all their interests.

My Project

Students are kept accountable for keeping a well organized binder for the work they do in our class. Having a working three hole punch is an essential part of this process because that means students can neatly place their handouts into their binder without it falling or slipping out.

We like to keep schoolwork neat in my classroom by keeping our binders tidy.

Each week, I hand out a graphic organizer that students do their Warm Up on each day that needs to be punched. We also keep an assignment sheet and other math guides that I hand out periodically. I also punch holes into the students' tests and quizzes so that they can be filed away in their binder.
