Having these essential things has made a huge impact on how students see themselves daily when coming to school. Along with the toothbrush and toothpaste, the other items have also been given to those students who are in dire need. Things such as deodorant, shampoo, and conditioner have been used by the students. The snacks have been given to those needing a little pick-me-up before lunch. The students are so grateful that they have these durable new tools to help them as we use our critical thinking skills to work through complex math problems.\r\n\r\nWe also have the plastic solids to help students to visualize how the formulas for the volume of 3D geometries are related. For example a cone is one third the volume of a cylinder with the same base and height. If we fill the cone three times with water and repeatedly pour it into the empty cylinder it will be filled so students can visualize that relationship.\r\n\r\nIt has been a year filled with joys and challenges in our mathematics learning. The plastic containers help me organize miscellaneous small items as well as student supplies for easy access.\r\n\r\nMy students enjoy doing experiments and this mobile storage unit enables me to have labs for my 3-4 periods a day. I also teach multiple grade levels so this helps me stay organized. \r\n\r\nIn a few weeks my 7th grade classes will be completing a seastar dissection.
