ELD Students Need Books

Help me give my students access to high-interest, lower level chapter books to make learning to read in English fun and engaging.

My Project

I teach Level 2 ELD to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. I absolutely love this class. Many of my students experienced difficult journeys on their way to the United States. They are working hard to learn English and need access to interesting books to help bolster their language acquisition. I love reading with my students, but right now, I don't have the materials I need. Three students are having to share one book, and the books that I have are not very engaging.

Reading is an essential part of becoming proficient in any language, and having access to high-interest, lower level books will greatly help my students with vocabulary acquisition, comprehension, and learning the fundamentals of English.

When each child has their own book, they stay more focused when we're reading in class, and they can take them home as needed for assignments. Thank you for helping my ELD students on their English learning journeys!
