This DonorsChoose.org project is to support 9th grade ELA who have been impacted by disrupted learning due to Covid-19. Engaging in ELA learning targets has been difficult for many students who lack necessary notetaking supplies, listening tools, and access to personal ancillary reading materials.
Currently, the students have access to computers, but they don't have headphones or the books they need.
I want to provide students with headphones and books that will help my 9th grade students learn to close-read and write informational and creative texts. Having access to reading materials, note-taking tools, visual aids, and earphones will give students a better opportunity to connect to diverse perspectives and allow students the individuality to learn at their own pace as they regain confidence in learning.
My Project
Help my students have the supplies needed to explore and learn brainstorming techniques, writing skills, and story composition for creative writing. The classroom set of books and headphones are tools that will help students build their understanding of creative writing.
Our classroom is in need of headphones for each student and class sets of writing guides.
Many students can't afford to bring a set that will work with the creative writing lab's computers. By providing headphones and classroom sets of creative writing guides, students will be better able to learn and grow.
