Einstein 101-- Creating the Next Wave of Masterminds!

My students need the reference materials and experiment tools required to master the 23 events in the 2009-2010 Science Olympiad season. With tightened budgets, we do not have the funds available to purchase things like the solar system reference materials or Ornithology reference materials. While we can reuse some of the materials from past seasons, there are five completely new events for us which require new books, training materials, charts, graphs, experiment designs and practice tests. I have selected as many of these items as possible for this project.

My middle school students CHOOSE to spend 3 days a week from October until March learning science in a hands-on competitive environment as part of the Science Olympiad team!

With unemployment at the highest rate in the state, our students are facing a challenge of learning these new events and studying without the usual community support we experience. Funds have been cut within the school system as state budgets are limited. These students have a huge desire to learn but limited resources to make that happen in this setting! Several of our events are new and leave the students without the materials needed to learn and master the events, like solar system, birds, battery buggy and so forth.

By receiving the requested materials, my students will be able to master the concepts of these high school and college level events at middle school age! You will be able to help them put the book knowledge into a working knowledge by providing the materials for competition and giving them the ability to succeed.

You will make it possible for these fantastic students to put their academics to the test. They will be able to make learning a priority as they not only learn the science behind the competitions, but also how to work together as a team and lead themselves into a strong future!
