Help me give my students the opportunity to practice the skills needed to learn to read at their individual level and pace using the online program Reading Eggs.
My students are learning to be independent learners-not dependent on step by step teacher direction. They are so eager to learn. They come to my EC room excited and asking "What are we doing today?" They become even more excited on the days I tell them "It's iPad day!"
I love building independence and academic skills in students who are struggling in the general ed setting.
These students come from homes where they don't have access to reading materials at their reading level. Reading Eggs can be accessed from home which will extend the amount of time students can benefit from the program each day.
My Project
The goal of my project is to develop a love for reading. Reading Eggs builds student confidence by teaching reading skills sequentially and exposing them to reading online books that contain only words they have already studied in the program.
Reading Eggs will allow me to work with a small group of students on a specific skill and then have them go practice the skill on an iPad.
I can then work with another small group on a different skill- ensuring everyone is getting the instruction they need.
Reading Eggs also supports the state goal of "every child reading on grade level" prior to exiting the 3rd grade.
