My Students

I am a science teacher at a large, urban, technical, high school in central Massachusetts. Our school has a very diverse student population. My students are bright, enthusiastic, motivated, and willing to learn. They come from varying socio-economic backgrounds with differing degrees of access to technology, which presents challenges when trying to give every student the same opportunities as we've become more reliant on technology. I want to create an environment that breaks from tradition and empowers the students with multiple paths for learning.

My Project

Currently, my students are learning remotely with a plan to begin hybrid learning soon. During this process and in the transition, it is imperative that I have an efficient device that can support the many educational platforms and programs that I implement on a daily basis. Over the last 9 months, I have dedicated myself to learning and implementing many platforms, programs, and technology skills necessary to maximize the learning experience for my diverse groups of students. Unfortunately, the success of these skills is completely dependent on quality devices that can manage the technology live and without fail. As a Biology instructor, I utilize multiple STEM websites and programs that do not work on the device provided by my district. Constant freezing, inability to run certain programs and slow processing is a major roadblock in successful learning. This device will maximize my ability to deliver effective and efficient educational content to all students. Thank you so much for your consideration. This resource will allow my students to view and participate in the learning platforms, STEM resources, and digital interfaces that allow for maximum learning during a difficult time.
