My Students

All students are diverse and energetic 5 and 6-year-olds in a southern Arizona Title I STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) school.

Ninety-nine percent of our students qualify to receive free lunch.

Most are English Language Learners, including refugees from Africa, Asia, Mexico, and the Middle East. All coming from low-income households. School is often the first place my students are exposed to literacy, math, and STEAM activities in English. They come from homes where education is often not a priority, making the initial readiness gap wider. They strive to do their best against the odds and are always excited to come to school and learn.

My Project

I am working on my National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards. I want to gather real-time, academic data to drive my class instruction and effectively evaluate my students’ learning.

The Apple iPad and ESGI One-on-One Assessment monitoring program provides real-time student data, assessment reports, and instructional resources that will drive my instruction and give my students' access to work on identified skills on an iPad .

The iPad will allow me to meet one-on-one with each student. I can use a preloaded or custom assessment and have access to real-time data. I can share valuable information with parents while building a positive home-school working relationship.

The iPad will also allow a student to work independently on academic skills. It can be easily cleaned between students.

These tools will be invaluable while working on my National Board Certification and help drive instruction to meet each students' needs. It’s a Win-Win for my students and me!
