My Students

My students are the absolute best kids you could ask for!

We are a Title I school in a small town in GA.

We have a high poverty rate. We offer Summer Inspiration each summer for kids in our school system. This is to offer them fun, hands-on learning opportunities. It also keeps them learning throughout the summer with less learning regression over vacation.

Once again since we are a Title I school, our kids do not get to go on trips too far out of our county. My co-teacher and I are doing an ecosystem camp. The students will be learning about our local lake habitats and we are also including an ocean habitat. We are wanting to dissect a fish as well as a shark this summer. We are taking a field trip to one of our local state parks and Georgia Power is doing a program for us. We would like to do a culminating event and take our kids to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.

My Project

We have been studying fresh and salt water ecosystems this summer. We have been to a local lake as well as dissected crayfish and a pregnant shark. We watched caterpillars turn into chrysalises and then release them back into the wild after hatching into butterflies.

At the Georgia Aquarium, our students will get a behind the scenes tour, see a sea lion and dolphin show, as well eat lunch and then the freedom to explore the aquarium.

They will get to see animals in their habitats as well as learn more about the food chain. It's a culminating event to what they have learned in camp this summer.
