Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing, excited, and engaged in the opportunities that surround them. They seek help from each other and their teachers. They ask questions. They bring the school together as the glue that keeps us striving for greatness.
We are one because of them.
We are a large school, but small enough to acknowledge the importance of community and school pride. We show our unity at sporting events, assemblies, and school plays. My students rejoice together in the successes of their peers, and they feel the suffering of those who are experiencing difficult times. My students are not just a group of kids, but a group of young adults that work to make our hometown, our country, our world a better place to live.
My Project
For the past two years, I have been lucky enough to bring my AP Economics students to Wall Street to explore and learn more about this epicenter of finance. Each year, my students' interest in this trip grows, leading me to continue to reflect and build on how I can make this experience the best one yet! This year, I am asking for a coach bus to safely and comfortably bring my AP Economics students to New York City. In New York City, students will complete a self-guided tour on Wall Street where they will take part in a scavenger hunt that provides students a space to reflect on what they've learned throughout the year. The scavenger hunt will ask students to take photos, answer questions, and collaborate with their peers to win!
We can't make it to New York for this experience without your help!
Due to the high prices of coach buses, many of my students would be unable to celebrate the end of the year, the completion of their AP exams, and join us on this annual trip. Your contributions will provide an opportunity for my students to participate in this experience without sacrifice, to be able to completely immerse themselves in the city and what they have learned.
