My students need ecoSTEM kits to engage in hands on science in our garden. These lessons build on and tie in nicely with the land and water units 4th graders engage in.

My Students
My classroom is a space where students are allowed to engage in projects that are engaging and hands on. It is student centered and driven when applicable. Student's voices are heard more than mine as they question, build on ideas of others and solve problems.
My students come from a wide range of backgrounds both economically and racially.
Many of our student's and their families are in our town because we are a Refugee Resettlement Center. They have endured hardships in their lives and want a different, more successful life for their children. Our whole community is lucky to have such a diverse student body.
My Project
By having these ecoSTEM kits students will be able to work outside in our 3 year old garden space testing the soil and learning about erosion. It will provide them a real experience of science by using resources right on our school grounds and giving them the ability to solve problems and make choices on our campus.
This donation will help my classroom by providing me with materials to teach students about land and water.
It will improve their lives because they will be provided with experiential learning in STEM and be able to use "real" scientific tools to do so. Many students are excited to come to school to see what we are going to do next and I am excited to get them outside for more field studies.
More than half of students from low‑income households
