Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My special needs students are reading with the use of a Chromebook, iPad, and headphones. Although most of them are English learners, they have the passion to read with the use of an audio device. Reading is a challenge for my students, but the use of online audiobooks brings excitement and motivation as it eases their difficulty of learning a second language.

Most of my students come from low-income families that struggle in providing their children with the tools they need to unlock their potential to read effectively.

My students love to read with headphones as it quiets their environment and prevents distractions. My special needs students love to pair up and read as they share their understanding and write notes together.

My Project

Most of my students love to read eBooks as the audio enriches their vocabulary. However, the lack of headphones makes it difficult for students to listen to audiobooks at the same time. Also, students are off task and easily distracted when multiple eBooks are playing.

Headphones will eliminate distractions, increase productivity, and help special need students focus on their reading.

With increased productivity, students are able to test on their books and check for understanding. Students that are visually impaired will also benefit from headphones. The visually impaired will finally have the tools they need to enjoy a book and fantasize about what they are reading.
