This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It should not be a choice between choosing food or medications. They both go together. Some health conditions require certain foods or extra foods in order to minimize complications and keep the body healthy. Chronic medical conditions such as Diabetes Type 1, which is common in school age, requires constant maintenance and proper nutrition. Many students struggle with that due to lack of resources at home to help provide the nutrition they need. Therefore, the school and school staff become a valuable resource. Donations to this project will provide students with diabetes from impoverished areas of the community and school district extra resources to manage their condition without having to sacrifice food over medication. They will be able to focus on academic achievement by knowing that they have back up for nutritional needs when needed.

Equity Focus
