Easy to Navigate Independent Reading Books

My Project

My students are truly gems! This year, I am given the opportunity to work with students from a wide range of learning levels. Some of my students are working on learning their basic letters while some are reading chapter books. My inclusion classroom is in need of storage for the wide range of books that I am purchasing this year for my classroom.

Who wants to read when there aren't books on their level?

That's my concern for my incoming students. Currently, I have books that accommodate my on-grade-level or slightly below-grade-level readers. This year, I have a wide range of readers from pre-k all the way through middle school. Some of my students are English language learners and some have reading disabilities. Despite their needs, how is it equitable to not have books for all of these learners?

This project will allow me to move some of my shelving into drawers. This will free up some additional bookshelves for students. Also, this allows me to give students an individual book box to keep their books in. Some students may be embarrassed by their reading levels so I want to keep them private in their boxes. Additionally, this will provide me with labels for each shelf so students can quickly navigate the books to find books on their reading level.
