My Students
My students are very active 4-year olds. One half of the students qualify for free lunch.
We are learning how to use our bodies in expressive fashion by integrating art into our daily learning centers.
After reading "Make Way for Ducklings" we were busy building a city with wood blocks, cutting construction paper to make a pond, using duck puppets in dramatic play, making crayon rubbings of feathers, visiting with a duck brought in by an upperclassmen for us to observe, painting our version of ducks, and dancing ike ducks (waddling) during music and movement (although some still chose to dance the "floss".
My Project
Art is always a desirable learning center. This easel is age appropriate, easy to clean and maintain, and will help children build their fine motor skills and help to build the skill of crossing the body's midline.
Painting is offered every day but we are limited to table top painting which limits the broadness of development.
We want our students to have the opportunity to express their creativity in a developmentally appropriate space that can be easily accessible and monitored for safe, friendly play. The easel will attract and encourage students to participate in creative outlets and build social connections.
