My Students

MY students are young readers who struggle with reading and need a little extra help. They are hard workers and always try to use all their best reading strategies. They are first, second and third graders who we are helping foster a love of reading with. Many of my students come from low income families and are not able to purchase school supplies on their own. The school provides many things for them, but is not able to fund all the supplies that would make their learning environment the best it can be.

As a reading teacher, I get to see struggling students learn and grow at different paces, so the Reading Team works hard to create a happy, organized environment for our students.

We use many books, charts, bookmarks and manipulatives to create a fun learning environment.

My Project

We have a very small room with two teachers sharing the space. In the past we have used paper folders to keep the Reading Room students organized, but end up replacing them 4 to 6 times a year - which can get very costly.

These reading totes will help students keep their Reading Room materials organized in one place.

The totes have a flap and velcro closure to keep things from falling out. The bonus is that they can be used year after year without having to be replaced!

This project will provide enough reading totes for all of my students.
