This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach a class of seventeen kindergarten students. My school is a federally funded school due to the low-income of the families.
Many of my students have had little to no exposure with regards to academic materials. They do not know what the alphabet looks like, what numbers look like, or even how to count.
A good easel would give me the space needed to practice letter and number identification using the white board and/or magnetic letters. The easel will hold big books so that I can focus on teaching children how to track print. This easel also has plenty of space for me to store materials that could be used during a "teachable moment."
Your help will ensure that my students have a strong foundation on which to build the rest of their knowledge.
