Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Benjamin Franklin said, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” This is Kindergarten in a nutshell. My dream is to give these Kindergarten students hands-on math materials that will help them to become tomorrow's engineers and math leaders!
My school is a Title I school in Oregon, where the student population qualifies for 100 percent free and reduced priced lunch.
With small school budgets, it is getting harder and harder to provide students with fun and exciting ways to learn, and I want to give my students the equal opportunity to fall in love with learning the same way that I did as a student. Technology is always changing and my students need new and exciting ways to engage and excite their learning.
My Project
Kindergarteners are all about exploring the world around them. When they are able to use their hands to explore and learn they discover the world in a whole new way. I want to give my students this opportunity with hands on math learning centers.
Engaging and hands-on math tools are what my students need to help flourish their math understanding.
These tools will be used on a daily basis in my classroom. Students will use them whole group and in math centers to enhance their understanding of subtraction, addition, and number bonds.
Every student deserves to have access to materials that are engaging and fun!
