My Students

Art programs depend on visibility to generate and maintain interest and support. We have had the opportunity to show work, but limited space and the facilities restricted our ability to all but of few of the 125 students' works. Simple, lightweight, portable easels would expand our options.

The 125+ student population in the Talented Visual Art (TVA) program all qualified to participate through a state approved testing process to receive additional art services.

The students range from grade 1-12 and show incredible creativity, skills and focus. This public school is committed to high quality, diverse educational opportunities and this program has grown from 17 students 4 years ago. TVA students participated in pull-out programs once per week for 45-50 minutes. The strength of the program has resulted in modification of the program for 2013-2014 and students will have the ability to select TVA as an elective in the middle & high school, receiving credit and hours like other elective courses.

My Project

Storage and space are precious for our program, yet the need to share student work is critical. These simple easels take little storage space, yet expand the ability to share student work throughout the school and at other venues. We selected these easels in order to share the greatest quantity of work at the lowest cost available. Portability of these make for easy to set up exhibits outside of auditoriums and at school board meetings in a timely manner also.

Sharing student work gives students recognition for their efforts and accomplishments.

This year we had students that were recognized in city, state, national and international presentations and except for minor recognition in local news, many people have not had a chance to see the work. Allowing students to participate in shows, exhibits and events including school board and city council meetings, citywide festivals and church events will expand their opportunities.
