The Talented Visual Art students are a selected group of public school students (grades 2-12) that show exceptional abilities in visual art. Many of these students enjoy great parental support in their pursuit of art beyond doodling at home and thrive with the added support in a specialized classroom. The class originally met once per week and has seen numerous students achieve recognition for their drawing abilities through shows and competitions. Some grades are now scheduled electives offering a more complete art curriculum. Most of this group of students will move forward to participate in Advanced Placement classes that require a broad venue of experiences in order to compete on a national level for scholarships, grants and awards.
