Easel for First Grade Learning

Help me give my students a new easel to replace the old, broken one so that we can do our best learning.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am always in admiration of the perseverance and grit I see in my students and their families. I am so lucky to arrive each day at a job I love, with smiling kids whose parents support and value education in the ways that they can.

My students deserve access to the same materials and opportunities that students in more affluent areas receive.

Our school is a Title I school, and most of my students participate in the free or reduced-price lunch program. Many of our students are second language learners and struggle academically. Many of our students reside in homeless shelters and foster homes. Most of them also do not have books, technology, or art supplies at home.

My students and their families face many obstacles in their daily lives, and I strive to ensure my students have access to the same materials and opportunities kids in more affluent areas receive.

My goal each year is to create an eagerness, excitement, and high engagement around learning and help each of them build a genuine love of learning.

My Project

The easel we currently have in our classroom is broken and problematic. This requested easel is magnetic and dry erase. Students will be able to interact and be engaged in their learning using this easel.

My students are curious, interested learners who deserve to have nice, unbroken items to support their learning, just like kids in different zip codes have access to.

This easel will be used for multiple purposes. During our morning meetings students will be able to be more engaged with their weekly song, and with reading, writing, and mathematics using this interactive and fun easel.

I will engage students in direct instruction utilizing this easel, working one to one or in small groups. Students will be given the opportunity to share different types of responses on this easel. This easel will be used for word study, writing sentences, choral reading and many other literary and mathematics opportunities. This easel can be easily moved around the room so that it can be brought to any section of the classroom for different types of uses at any given time. This resource will increase student engagement in lessons.
