This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in the Yakima School District at BL Elementary where almost half of our students are English Language Learners. We know that the best way to teach our ELL’s and all students is through using GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design) which incorporates a variety of strategies to support bilingual students in learning content and acquiring language. One tool is using an easel with either an erasable whiteboard or easel paper for instruction. Another is creating narrative input charts to go along with our current learning.

My Project

This is my first year teaching and I need some basic classroom supplies. One is having a teaching easel, chart paper and markers which are essential in a teachers classroom. Using Anchor Charts is one tool I will use with the easel which is a GLAD (Guided Language Acquisition Design)strategy that supports bilingual students in learning content and acquiring language. GLAD is good for all students! They love to collaborate with their peers and using the scented markers is just a plus! This is just one example I will use with the easel, the strategies are endless....
