Earth science is a fascinating subject but I do have students who believe it is only about natural disasters and weather. I want to help them to understand the curriculum while appreciating the amazing aspects of our Earth.
I teach earth science to energetic, hard-working freshmen.
I want my students as excited about the subject as I am. I incorporate a variety of strategies to help my students understand and retain the curriculum. Every student must pass Earth Science to graduate so I seek various ways to teach and cover the curriculum. A strong science foundation is needed in high school. I want to be sure that every Earth Science student receives a strong foundation during their freshmen year.
My Project
My students need workbooks which accompany their textbook to help cover and understand the Earth Science curriculum. These Guided Reading and Study Workbooks are correlated with the Prentice Hall Earth Science text. Each worksheet has a reading strategy to help the students improve their reading skills. The worksheets provide a type of outline as the student reads the section. They contain questions and statements which are easy to preview the section the student is planning on reading. The worksheets for the chapter can easily become a study guide for the upcoming test. By having the workbooks available in class it is very convenient for the student and saves the constant Xeroxing by the teacher. Every other chapter has a vocabulary worksheet to help with vocabulary development. These worksheets will help my students with the reading of the textbook and the understanding of the curriculum.
I need to have workbooks in the classroom ready for my students to use.
Budgets have been cut in all areas of the school. Having these workbooks available in previous years have proved successful in having my students understand and retain the Earth science curriculum. I hope you will be a part of my classroom's success by helping to provide these workbooks. Thank you for considering my proposal.
