My Project

This project is designed to teach students how plants work, how they tie into the environment, and how to collect data to show progress on making a positive impact. The raised bed will be for growing flowers outside of our classroom area. The seed packets and tools will help get us started. The instant camera will allow us to take weekly and bi-weekly progress photos so we can monitor our progress and success.

The real goal of this project is to ultimately let students share their passion for the environment with others.

While Earth Day comes around once a year, the ecological issues and challenges we face are something my students think about regularly.

On a recent trip to volunteer at a houseless shelter, the students noticed the lack of plants and green space and talked about if we could figure out how to start these beds at school and then maybe we could show others how to continue the work in areas that would benefit from more plants.
